The San Juan Historical Museum is located on what remains of the once expansive (445 acre) James King Farmstead. Eight buildings comprise the grounds which includes the original farmhouse, carriage house, root house and milk house. The original San Juan County jail, an 1890’s settler log cabin, a resource center and the developing Museum of History and Industry (housed in a late 1800’s replica barn) complete the grounds. There are exhibits in each structure, while the resource center houses an exhibit gallery, research library and administrative offices. We invite you to take a step back in time and experience island life as it was over a century ago. The Museum is open April through October, and in the off-season by appointment.
