A promotional brochure from 1908 described Lopez Island as, “… the best island of the loveliest group of islands in the world.” Most Lopezians believe that’s still true today.
The museum, located in the heart of Lopez Village, displays a timeline of Lopez Island history containing exhibits that include Natural History, First Islanders, Settlers, Communities, and Making a Living. The other half features a new exhibit each year. We have hosted The Diaries of Amelia Davis (Amelia arrived on Lopez in 1869 and kept a fascinating daily diary until her death in 1929), Maritime Lopez, and Down to Earth—Farming on Lopez Island, among others.
We also keep a huge searchable photo archive as well as files on nearly every topic that relates to Lopez. We hope you will visit soon.
